Playing techniques - Staccato
Staccato is a technique that produces a short sharp sound. This example shows how it can be employed to great effect, mixing with the fluid feel of hammer ons:

To get the staccato sound you need to mute the note as soon as you have played it, either by decreasing the pressure from your fretting hand, palm muting with your picking hand, or both. Again, look at reworking existing phrases to include staccato and add the technique to your call and response jamming over the Run To You riff.
