Playing Techniques - Sliding Notes
Sliding to a note is a great way to open solo or begin a new phrase. It is equally good used as an after thought at the end of a phrase. Use this example to perfect the technique, which should allow you to hear a constant increase in pitch, leading right up to the first note in the bar.

When sliding, you need to release the grip of your thumb on the back of the guitar and try to keep an even pressure from the fretting hand on the note you are sliding. Try to keep this movement as even and smooth as possible. It will take some practice to slide accurately over greater distances. Once fretting the note you are going to slide, try looking up at the note you are sliding to before you actually perform the movement. This may stop you from over or under sliding.
