Jamming Ammo - Expanding the Scale
Once you've spent some time working with position 1 of the scale you'll probably want to extend the range of notes in your scale in order to vary the sound of your playing. To do this we can look at which notes are available immediately either side of position 1.
Try playing this version of position 1, with extra notes added on to the lower and higher reaches of the scale.

Although this is not a root position of the minor pentatonic scale it demonstrates how, by moving just a few notes to the left and right, we can bring in extra choices of notes to include in our phrasing. Try experiments with these new notes, either working on new phrases or varying those created before.
